Custom Charcoal Animal Portraits.
Although I’ve previously worked in oils, I currently focus on charcoal and pastel portraits on archival paper.
🐾 How It Works
Each portrait begins with your favourite photos and a few words about your pet’s personality. I use these to capture not just likeness, but the little spark that makes them who they are.
Step 1 – Get in Touch
Send an enquiry using the form below, and we’ll chat about your ideas, size preferences, and whether you’d like charcoal or pastel.
Step 2 – Reference Photos
You’ll share a few clear photos of your pet. Natural light and sharp eyes help me see their true expression.
Step 3 – Creating the Artwork
Once details are confirmed, I begin your portrait. Each piece is drawn by hand using professional-grade materials on archival paper.
Step 4 – Delivery
When finished, your artwork is carefully packaged and shipped flat, ready for framing.

Each portrait is individually created either in black and white or colour using high quality Conte compressed charcoal on superior acid free archival paper, capturing the unique personality and spirit of your pet. While I’ve previously worked in oils, my current focus on these expressive mediums allows me to work with beautiful depth, softness, and immediacy — creating timeless pieces that celebrate the animals we love most.
Reference Photos
Your portrait will be as accurate and full of personality as possible — and that starts with good reference photos. Clear, well-lit images showing your pet from the angle you’d like captured are essential.
I recommend multiple photos if your pet moves a lot or you want a particular expression.
Photos should show the face, eyes, and key features clearly.
If the images provided don’t give enough information to create a high-quality portrait, I reserve the right to request additional photos or, in rare cases, decline the commission.
Tip for best results: Natural light and sharp, in-focus photos really help me capture your pet’s personality.
